The HAPI project is focused on using Open tech­nolo­gies, mean­ing we build our tech­nol­o­gy on top of hard­ware and soft­ware that is Open Source. These cur­rent­ly include Arduino and Rasp­ber­ry Pi hard­ware, along with the Lin­ux oper­at­ing sys­tem, the SQLite data­base sys­tem, the Python pro­gram­ming lan­guage, the git ver­sion con­trol sys­tem and Kan­board project man­age­ment soft­ware.

While there are pro­pri­etary tech­nolo­gies (some sen­sors for exam­ple) sup­port­ed by the HAPI tech­nol­o­gy stack, we try to keep this to a min­i­mum.
